As someone who recently started barre classes, I really enjoyed hearing your “finding mercy in the glutes” story lol. Here’s to learning to do more weight-bearing in our 30s and beyond. Hope your hip feels better soon, also. And I LOVED seeing Splinters in your list! It’s very sweet to have a friend who loved this book as much as I did. :) Also just v happy to know someone who recommends Dr. Scholl’s loafers. A true blessing in the times of Target shoes that are cute but also horrible for my aging feet joints (LOL #grandmaenergy).
Loved reading how you’re finding mercy in the glutes! 💕 I’ve had a long road of struggle with exercise and running because of my hips and ankles—almost 2 years ago now after a double round of hip physical therapy (during which the Lord showed his mercy by using the PT to help discover an unrelated issue that I was able to get surgery to fix), I started going to the personal trainer at the PT office. I’ve been training with him (functional weight training) 2x a week for 2 yrs and it’s the strongest I’ve felt since I was 20yo. It’s a big sacrifice, but very worth it to me—a kindness of the Lord to lead me to this solution after being disheartened by my body and inability to exercise without pain for so long. He is so very good to us 💕
Saved that dip recipe! Obv putting some books on hold too!
I have 2 Corinthians 12 on my laundry window. I keep learning this one over and over. Love the metaphor in your glutes, although that sucks about the pain! I’ve just returned to walking the kids to school, which is such a delight after not being able to do it while I was pregnant. I have hypermobility, which is usually not an issue, except when I’m pregnant and my hips ache. It’s such a small, simple exercise, but it makes such a difference to my days.
I currently have that Ruth Reichl book on hold and can’t wait for it to come in! Also need to try the sticker books for my kids during church. Thanks for all the great recs!
Stopped over here from Exhale. =) I so relate to the lack of control piece, especially as it relates to bodies! I have chronic pain that I deal with, so somedays I have to remind myself that I can't do as much as I used to do when I was younger. But, like you said, there is grace in having a weakness. It reminds us of where we need to keep our focus.❤️

I Hope This Finds You Well was a delight! I’m putting a hold on Splinters now.
I’m doing a no-spend on clothes/shoes/accessories right now, otherwise I’d buy those loafers in a heartbeat. Loafers always give me blisters!

I legit just finished The Paris Novel and I agree! I liked it. But I wanted the stuff that happened at the very end to happen sooner.
I agree! I loved the way her life opened up and I wish there had been more time on that. Could have used less tumbleweed content in the middle 😂
